Even the lift look like minor works of art in this stylish hotel in Asoke zone, where contemporary statuary provides an interesting counterpoint to more tradational Thai artwork. The decor in this elegant hotel is pleasing to the eye, with the exception of the breakfast room, where small and uncomfortable orange chairs look glaringly out of place amid the artwork all around.
The pool is on the ground floor and is surrounded by tall buildings, one of which is an ugly raw concrete carpark. While the pool is tastefully constructed, its unattractive location make it a place where guests do not spend long.
The breakfast restaurant isn't a place to spend time in, but the lobby is more attractive, with large sofas providing as much comfort for the backside as the artwork provides fo the eye.
The President Royal hotel offers excellent value for money.
Accommodation
Superior
These rather small rooms have a queen-sized bed. As the Deluxe room type is so affordable, there is little point in choosing one of these Superior rooms.
Deluxe
These are a much better option than the Superior rooms. Everything gleams with polish and care. The large bathrooms contain a bath and separate shower. A writing desk, sofa, kitchenette and flat-screen TV completes the picture in these great units.
Some of the units face to the front of the hotel, and some to the back, with the units which face to the front having better views. It's best to request a high floor, as the rooms on the low floors are surrounded by tall buildings and feel slightly gloomy.
One Bedroom Suite
These come in three flavours:
(a) 74 sqm, with an ugly view of the carpark to the rear of the hotel
(b) 63 sqm with a reasonable view
(c) 54 sqm, with a good view
The only one of these three that travellers should book is the 63 sqm one. While the views aren't quite as good as the views from the smaller 54 sqm units, these 63 sqm units are huge, and great value for money. in addition to a kitchenette and spotless bathroom, each has a large living room. The only problem guests have is deciding where to sit, as there are 2 large sofas and 6 chairs to choose from. The overall impression is of spaciousness combined with style, and offered at very competitive prices.
Two Bedroom Suite
These are similar to the above One Bedroom Suites, but with an extra bedroom. Each bedroom contains 2 double beds, and it is not possible to get twin beds in the second bedroom.
An extra bed is possible in the second bedroom. These huge and elegant suites are one of the best value options for family accommodation in Bangkok, and are hughly recommended.
Prices
The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of service charge and breakfast for 2 people.
