Deep Water Solo Thailand
Introduction
Deep Water soloing in Thailand is the ultimate tropical climbing
experience.
Climb straight out of a boat with just your climbing shoes and your chalk bag (and your shorts unless you really want to show off). It is one of Thailand's most exhilarating
and unforgettable experiences.
DWS in Thailand: advice - don't grab the rockface too low or you will be knobbled by barnacles.
| You are unencumbered with rope and gear. You can push yourself to your limit with no fear of consequence. Your flow is not interrupted by placing gear, clipping a bolt or worrying about a belayer. |
Where else can you climb a first ascent onsight that is 60 feet long and at your limit - in less than 5 minutes? Deep water soloing in Thailand upholds the highest standards and ethics. No bolts, slings or aid hammers mar the rock. Just you and the rock until the moment you fall and start again. |
| Thailand DWS - simple and sublime - power yoga on rock. |
Southern Thailand is world renowned for warm water, tropical sandy beaches, palm trees, bamboo bungalows and friendly local people. And now…deep water soloing. There are 65 routes already established, with hundreds of possibilities waiting to be discovered. |
Thailand Deep Water Solo - the limestone islands protrude from the Andaman Sea like citadels from a fantasy novel. The rock is that perfect gold and gray limestone with many tufa lines and huge stalactites hanging from the overhanging walls like wax dripping from candles.

Deep Water Solo Safety Advice
Deep water solo should be totally safe, but often people do silly things, like climbing one above the other on a rock face - if one of the upper climbers falls off, he may collide with someone lower down. |
| This usually happens because there are too many people sharing one route. People get bored of waiting for their turn and start climbing underneath someone else. |
This won't happen on one of our trips, as we insist on a maximum of 6 people per boat and 3 people per kayak. This way, people can paddle around to free routes, rather than all being stuck in the same spot because there aren't enough kayaks to go round. |
