Koh Yao Noi
 |
One of the first things you notice after arriving on Koh Yao Noi is
that all the motorbikes have the keys in the ignition. The people
here are particularly friendly - and by Thai standards, that means
very, very friendly indeed. |
|
This island, located between Railay and Phuket, offers
the traveller a unique and wonderful experience. Koh Yao Noi is an island
characterized by traditional Muslim fishing and farming villages, as
well as a low-key tourism infrastructure. Situated in Phang-Nga Bay,
the views are jaw-droppingly spectacular. |

Koh Yao Noi is a small island that one can explore in less than an afternoon.
The pace of life is slow here, and people smile and wave as you pass
by. The residents of Koh Yao Noi are working as a community to develop
tourism in a sustainable manner |
|
Most people work in fishing and coconut farming. Koh Yao Noi is as
photogenic as its presence in the National Park suggests. It consists
of pristine beaches, knotted forest and un-spoilt coast-line and offer
a great vantage point for relaxing and absorbing the beautiful scenery
in the bay. Hat Pa Sai and Hat Tha Khao are first class beaches. There
are lots of dirt trails, which can be explored by motorbike or mountain
bike (you must take a mountain bike with you, which Andaman Adventures
can supply). Basic supplies can be purchased at Ta Khai. It is possible
and a thoroughly good idea to take a boat trip to the neighbouring islands.
Koh Bele, a small island east of Koh Yao Noi, is particularly beautiful.
It has three pristine, white-sand beaches plus a sizeable tidal lagoon
and caves / coral reefs which are easily-accessible. |
