Koh Lao Liang Snorkelling and Deep Water Solo Trip

An exciting boat trip, however long your adrenaline yardstick is - this trip combines soft adventure snorkelling and kayaking with, if you feel brave enough, optional adrenaline-rush deep water soloing. This five-hour day-trip from Koh Lao Liang is highly recommended - whatever your thrill threshold, this trip will match, but need not exceed it.

Snorkelling

koh lao liang The snorkelling is some of the best in Thailand. The exotic underwater flora and fauna of the Koh Petra Marine Park will leave you speechless with wonder (just as well, really, because talking while all snorkelled up is a bit tricky).

The Marine Park is one of the least-visited in Thailand, and this fact shows in the almost perfect state of the coral and the profusion of marine life swarming all around. Try chasing a shoal of fish, or just float there and wonder at the underwater costume drama parading before your eyes.

It is not unlikely you will see dolphins on this trip. If you are lucky, they will jump out of the water, in a display that seems pointless, unless put on for the sole purpose of entertaining you, the human snorkeller. Why dolphins should care to give us such a lovely sight is a mystery.

Deep Water Solo

The optional deep water solo part of this trip is a real wake-up call to the muscles and mind.

deep water solo loa liang thailand Climb out of a kayak straight up a rock-face, with nothing on but some climbing shoes (and a pair of shorts, unless you really want to show off). When you have climbed as high as you dare or can, simply jump or fall in the water. This feels scary, but is actually extremely safe, as we know exactly where it is safe to jump in. You are completely safe at this new and fun sport.

It's a great challenge to have a go at, but it's almost as much fun watching other people fall in, or steel themselves to jump in, then scream or yell on the way down. What is it about watching other people fall into water that causes so much mirth ?
