This enormous 4-year old hotel has been in financial trouble ever since opening, but doesn’t look it. With 185 immaculate rooms, its large size means that it doesn’t have the cozy friendly feel of resorts like Layana, but does provide a wider range of amenities and accommodation options to choose from.
The resorts 24 hour room service is useful, as some of the rooms are a long way from the restaurants, and as the restaurants are often gloomily deserted.
Accommodation
Pond Room
Some of these rooms are seafront and overlook the sea, others have a very small sea-view. The rooms with a good sea-view are, surprise surprise, the ones nerest the sea, contact us and we'll see if we can get you one.
Very private and well-appointed, these rooms make good honeymoon and couples’ choices. There are ground floor rooms, and rooms on the single floor above them, with the upstairs rooms benefiting from better sea-views.
Deluxe
These rooms are large and immaculately decorated. Connecting rooms are possible, so making this a good family accommodation choice. Some of these rooms are located a fair way from the resort’s pools and restaurants, so are not ideal for families with small children.
Others are closer to the pool, so better for families. Many couples prefer a room further away from the pool and restaurant, as the atmosphere is then quieter.
Seaview Villa
Large than the Deluxe rooms, but also darker and gloomier, these rooms are not recommended.
Sunset Pool Villa
The living room is in a separate pavilion to the master bedroom so, although an extra bed in the living room is possible, younger children may not like the lack of a connecting door direct to their parents’ bedroom.
The large pool terraces are completely private and offer far-reaching sunset views over the Andaman Sea. These villas are one of the best honeymoon choices on Lanta. Four of these units are situated on a headland a fair distance from the resort’s restaurants, so many couples make extensive use of room service. there are eight in total, the other four are situated down by the beach, which makes them more convenient for the access to the resort's amenities, but less private and quiet.
Ban Rawi Suite
Doubling up just about everything bar the front door, these villas have 2 ponds, 2 bedrooms and 2 pools. The villas are immaculate and decorated to a very high standard, but all that wooden paneling and the extra pool come at a price, making the Ban Rawi Suite an expensive option, and one which we do not recommend.
Why anyone would actually want 2 pools anyway is a mystery - many Lanta hotels have his’n’hers wash-basins, his’n’hers toilets, his’n’hers showers, even his’n’hers wardrobes, but what is the point of his’n’hers pools? The pools are infinity-edged so dangerous for toddlers and, whilst opulent, the room interiors are a bit gloomy.
Ban Warin
Smaller than the Ban Rawi Suite, but still with the pointless second pool, these apartments are also not recommended, for the same reasons.
