Hot springs, Waterfall and Emerald pool
Just over an hour from Ao Nang are the hot springs , where you can relax in water that is more than warm - it's actually hot. The hot spring water cascades down a hillside, forming a waterfall where over the millenia the water has deposited minerals to form a series of natural bath-tubs - the perfect place to ease away aches and pains. When you get a bit too hot, simply jump into the river below to cool off. The nearby crystal pool is a lovely place to swim and it has a natural water-slide, which is lots of fun for the young and for the not-so-young too.
This is a great day-trip when combined with elephant trekking at Phanom Bencha National Park, which costs THB 1,500 per adult and THB 900 per child, including hotel pickup and dropoff, entrance fees and lunch.
