Mabul
The dive scene at Mabul, located 25 minutes from Sipadan, is very different - the island is known for muck diving, which is a better experience than it sounds. Whilst the visibility is low, there is an abundance of small and bizarre-looking species, such as frogfishes, scorpionfishes, harlequin shrimp, boxer crabs, fire gobies, ghost pipefish and crocodilefishes … the list could go on - it would be easier to list the macro species not found at Mabul.
The shallow beauty of Mabul will also appeal to snorkellers.
