Sand Sea View

Independent Review

Introduction

The best thing about this modest resort is its location on the quietest stretch of beach on the Phi Phi isthmus, at the western end of Tonsai bay. While this is as quiet as it gets on the ithsmus, night-time bar noise is still clearly audible from the bars a kilometre away, at the western end of the beach. Inside the bungalows with the door closed, though, only light sleepers will have a problem.

Accommodation

Beachfront Bungalow

These air-con units come in two flavours: (a) attractive thatched bungalows (b) ugly black concrete bungalows with concrete roofs.

The image on the left is of the ugly ones. The attractive ones look like the air-con bungalows (see image below).

It's best to avoid booking these units altogether, as you can't be sure that you'll get one of the nice ones.

Air-con Bungalow

These units are similar to the more attractive beachfront bungalows, and are a reasonable choice, if you want to stay on the isthmus.
There are eight of them, and the nearest four to the beach have reasonable sea-views. These four bungalows are the best units in this resort, by far.

Fan

All the fan units are located in unattractive terraced rows. There are three rows of them. Two of these rows face each other, with the small gap in between consisting of rough, un-landscaped ground.
The third row of units, at the back of the resort, also faces onto rough ground, but at least the units in this row have a mountain view.
