Railay Village Resort, Railay

Introduction

This resort is ideally located in the middle of West Railay beach, and is an excellent place to stay if you can afford the high prices. The resort has two pools and a restaurant right on the beach. The food isn't sensational, but it's pretty good for Railay - food isn't great anywhere on Railay except for at the astronomically expensive Rayavadee. If great food is essential to you and you can't afford the Rayavadee, you are best to stay in Ao Nang instead
Diners who have arrived early and bagged a beachfront table have an unimpeded sunset view. Whilst the restaurant views are an stunning as those from the nearby Railay Bay Resort, the Railay Village has a better reputatation for service than does its rival (not difficult to achieve, considering the snail-like pace at which meals are dished up at the Railay Bay).

Non-residents are advised to come and eat here, but arrive early, as the best tables go early. The restaurant serves no alcohol, but diners are allowed to buy their own, and bring it in.

Spa Villa

Click on the thumbnail to the left for a large image - it's worth doing!

These luxury bungalows are only three years old and are still in immaculate condition. Each villa's terrace is equipped with a pair of outdoor loungers, which almost appear to float in the lilly ponds fronting the villas. Some units have fairly private outdoor terraces, but others have terraces with no privacy at all. There are plenty of interesting and private spots for honeymooners inside, notably the over-sized bed, the very comfortable chaise longue and the jacuzzi which, in a great touch, has a flat-screen TV and DVD player installed above it. These are great units. Some offer reasonable views, but none offer great views. It's best to go for one of the units that has as much privacy as possible on the terrace and is nearer the sea, contact us and we'll request one of these for you. One of the units is located next to one of the resort's pools, and offers direct pool access. This unit is a good option for families with smaller children, contact us for details.

Pool Villa

These units are so named because they surround a pool, not because each has its own pool. They are built in 6 blocks of 2-up and 2-down.
Adjacent rooms can connect in order to accommodate families, who can book a double room, and a connecting twin, possibly with an extra bed. The rooms are immaculate, spotless and innocuously decorated.
Whether to choose an upstairs room or a ground fllor room is a matter of personal preference - from the ground floor rooms the pool is only a few steps away, but the upstairs rooms have way better views, through the mature palm trees which dot the resort, of the karst mountains beyond them.

Prices

The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of service charge and breakfast for 2 people.

Compulsory gala dinner:
Compulsory gala dinner on 31 Dec 09 is Baht 3,000 per adult and Baht 1,800 per child
