Island Hop - Koh Yao Noi
Introduction
This tour is no longer recommended. Our newer beach and agoon kayaking tour is similar, but better as it includes the use of a kayak. A kayak lets you get up close to the lovely lagoons and improves a day out considerably, which is why we now recommend the beach and lagoon kayaking trip (you don't have to paddle yourself if you don't want to, your guide will be happy to paddle you around).
 |
The itinerary starts with lunch on the beach at Koh Roi, after which we explore Koh Roi's lagoon. A small window though the rock gives access from the sea to the inside of the lagoon. Access is by kayak at high tide and on foot at low tide. |
Inside the lagoon sheer walls rise over a hundred metres straight up, surrounding a water-born mangrove thicket. This secluded little world is only accessible via the window in the rock-face. It has not yet been discovered by the big Phuket tour companies, so is always deserted. This is a fairly new tour which we have so far, as of June 2009, run only 9 times - on none of these trips have we encountered a single soul inside the lagoon at Koh Roi.

After leaving Koh Roi we go to Hat Yao, which is as photogenic as its presence in a National Park suggests, and is ideally situated to offer the visitor a front-row view of the incomparably beautiful karst islands rearing sheer from the waters of Phang Nga Bay. |
| It is as much what Had Yao beach lacks, as what it has, that make it special: along with its 400 metres of white sand, its perfect swimming water and its shady trees, Had Yao beach also benefits from the absence of any rubbish, buildings, hawkers, and often any other people at all. |
 |
Note that the itinerary will be varied, if kayakers are also taking the lagoon exploration trip, so that different sites are visited on the two tours.
