Ao Nang Palace Hotel

Independant Review

Introduction

The exterior of this hotel is rather grotty, leading the approaching visitor to worry about his hotel choice, even before seeing his room.
While this is not one of Ao Nang’s better hotels, it does benefit from a very central location and a spacious pool and restaurant area, plus good views from the upper floor rooms. For visitors who want a pool and to be near the beach, and who can overlook the slightly shabby state of the rooms, this is a reasonable choice.

Accommodation

Superior

All these rooms face the town and overlook the main street, which makes them a bit noisy, particularly the lower floor rooms.

They each have a miniscule balcony on which it is impossible to sit, as no comfortable chairs are provided (the balconies are too small for normal-sized chairs). The lack of comfortable furniture also detracts from the rooms’ interiors too, in which the bed is the only comfortable spot.

Deluxe

These rooms are cheaply furnished and in need of renovation, but clean and odourless.

The 3rd floor rooms have great mountain and seaviews (there is no lift). All the Deluxe rooms face the mountain and sea, but only the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have views.

Their tiny balconies are useless except as a place for a morning stretch, as they only contain 2 uncomfortable wooden stools. These are almost kindergatan-sized, and no Western adult backside will comfortably fit on one for more than a minute or so.

Prices

The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of service charge and breakfast for 2 people.

In addition, on this site we offer the following free benefits:

  • Airport transfers at only THB 500 for a taxi or THB 1,000 for a minivan.
  • If you book your transfer to the airport with us, we will take you to the Tiger Cave Temple, for free, en route. If adults want to climb to the top and need child-minding help while they do so, contact us.
  • We’ll personally inspect the available rooms for the dates you require, then report back to you with details of the available rooms that best meet your requirements.
  • You will be able to take advantage of unlimited travel advice before arrival – we know southern Thailand intimately and so can organize all your accommodation, travel, sports and activities. This personalized and customized service comes at no extra cost to you – we get our commissions from hotels and activity/transport providers, not from you.
