Ao Nang Beach Resort

Independant Review

Introduction

This resort enjoys an enviable location right in the middle of Ao Nang beach (click here for map) and, for visitors who don't intend to spend much time in-resort, it is an acceptable choice.

The prices are high for the standard of accommodation offered due to the central location. There is a faintly musty odour permeating this older resort, so visitors with sensitive noses should stay elsewhere. The pool is pleasant in apperance, and efforts have been made to make its surroundings look nice too.

Unfortunately, though, the scruffy back roofs of the adjoining properties that surround the pool, along with wheezing air-cons and a large concrete power pylon, have defeated these efforts to make the pool a pleasant place.

Accommodation

Standard

These large rooms are depressingly gloomy, and should be avoided.

Deluxe

These clean, smart and spacious rooms are set around an internal roofed courtyard. From the balconies, all the visitor can see is the small, rather sruffy internal courtyard, roofed with scruffy plastic. If all the visitor is looking for is a place to sleep, these rooms will just suffice.

Deluxe Garden View

These rooms are the same as the Deluxe rooms, but have views over the car park and swimming pool beyond. They aren't really garden view rooms at all, but then, the room type namer 'Car Park View Deluxe' doesn't have much of a ring about it.

These rooms, whilst unimpressive, are clean and smart and a reasonable choice for a short stay for visitors who aren't fussy about the slightly musty atmosphere, and who intend to spend all their days out on day trips.

Suite

All of these smart and spacious rooms are at the front of the resort, so offering a seaview from their balconies. These balconies are somewhat scruffy and not particularly pleasant places to spend time. Even with the balcony door closed, traffic noise from beach road is still audible in these rooms, so light sleepers should stay elsewhere.

Prices

The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of service charge and breakfast for 2 people.
