Ananta Burin, Ao Nang

Introduction

This resort won’t wow many people, but won’t upset many visitors either, although the rooms are expensive for the facilities provided, and the shared areas are somewhat cramped.

A well-presented resort, the tone is set by the tastefully decorated and airy lobby, which lets in enough breeze to cool the traveler on all but the most stifling of April days. While lacking the opulence of more up-market resorts, the lobby and restaurant are surrounded by greenery and decorated with tasteful Asian objects d’art.

The resort’s restaurant reflects the spacious feel of the lobby; it’s just a pity that the rest of the resort does not. Although it is not as cramped as the neighbouring Amandari, Red Ginger, Aree Tara and Buri Thara resorts, most visitors will much prefer to stay at the nearby Duang Jai resort which, although it is a bit further from the beach, is only built on 2 floors and consequently doesn’t suffer from the cramped feeling that oppresses all its neighbouring resorts, including the Ananta Burin, to a greater or lesser degree.
The 75 rooms at the Ananta Burin are densely packed on 4 floors (there is a lift) around a pool which is thankfully on the large side and endowed with a sufficient number of loungers to go around, even in peak season. Click here for a map.

Accoomodation

All the rooms in this resort are identical in size, and only differ in their location and the furniture which they contain. All are comfortably and innocuously (if unimaginatively) decorated, mostly in uninspiring shades of gray and black. They are as immaculate and spotless as is to be expected from a resort that is only just over a year old, and all have a balcony or terrace equipped with a pair of comfortable loungers.

Superior

These are located either:

  1. on the ground floor, with a pool view but in a dark and gloomy corner of the hotel or

  2. on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the resort, with a view of the wasteland behind the resort.

In neither of these locations do the Superior rooms provide desirable accommodation.

Deluxe Pool Access

These rooms benefit from the presence of a sofa. The pool is directly outside the back of the rooms, accessible by stairs from the terrace. Overshadowed for most of the day by the tall buildings that comprise the resort, there rooms are rather gloomy, and are not recommended.

Deluxe Pool View

These rooms are the only ones recommended in this hotel, but only some of them are  recommended. The low-floor Deluxe rooms all suffer, to a greater or lesser degree, from the gloominess that afflicts the ground floor Superior and Pool Access rooms. Only the high-floor Deluxe rooms are recommended, The rooms on the west-facing side of the resort are the best ones. These are a reasonable, if rather expensive, option, and are unlikely to disappoint.
